WOW HOW long has it been

I am not even looking back at the last date i posted.. Don't matter.. LIfe happens.. My Father passed away in Dec, I am gaurdian now of my 56 yr. old Brother with downs syndrome... He is Sweet, and so easy to love. I can guarantee you he is happier then most of us... He has (HIS STUFF)and his TV to watch his Star Trek, and His game shows.. WOW if life was that simple for all of us. LOL.....

Along the same lines as above, I moved on to my Fathers property to take care of my brother.. My sister and her husband moved into one of the houses as well.. Moving all of my plants from one place to the other was a weeks worth of work..

My nursery has trippled in size .. I am still not inspected or licensed yet, because i want to have even more plants for my first sale.. Here is what i have accomplished in just a few months. In June when we moved back to our other home, i really got busy with my nursery. I am not licensed or inspected yet, but will be, before next spring. I have always loved plants, and have always had a few.. But now i have this. None are blooming now so no pretty flowers to look at.

This bed has at least a thousand plants.

Old Windows Greenhouse

You have seen this greenhouse on an older post , from where we lived on our ten acres.. When i moved it back here I painted it and have added some gates to the side and porch post cut down from when the storm blew our front porch down.. I added the white candle holders to the tops of the post. I will be doing much more as time goes on, and i get one of those AHHHHHHHHHHH Moments that hit me .. I will say , oh this or that would look great..

I have parts off of an old old piano . I took the cover that folds down over the keys and made a plate rack out if it. I took the whole front of the piano , where you sit your music while your playing,and lift it up to tun the keys.. I made an over the fireplace mantle decoration. But what i would like an opinion on, is if you like the candle sconces under the mirror part.. Or in the middle under the embossed paper i painted and put in the insets. I have my mind made up pretty much, but want to see if I am going in the right direction.. Oh, and of course all suggestions would be greatly appreciated for any other things that may be a better use for it.. But not in the trash ladies.. tee hee

I am trying to get to my decorating since moving back. I have tons of things going on, like most of you... I have such a high ceiling and a walk way going not quite down the center of the room, so, it makes for a kinda split up room. I have a dark wood dining room set that belonged to my grandmother and i crawled on it when i was a baby.. many before me did too. I have an old dark wood dresser i am using for an extra buffet table and storage.. Then i have odd and end pieces which i love and wanted to use. Any way I have so much more to do, and find some great things to hang on the walls.. I do have one thing i am going to do... I have a , well over an hundred year old piano thing, you know when you raise it up to expose the keys to play... lol.. Well one of those, i am going to make a plate rack out of it... NOw it is dark wood.. So do i paint it the wall color, or leave it dark like the buffet and table and add some decals of roses to it? Any way here are a few of the things i have done so far.

We are now living back in our house that we have been working on for some time now. It is such a wonderful house, and we are happy to be back. Sad to leave the 10 acres but happy to be here. We still have tons of boxes to unpack, so for now, no photos.. We did get our HIGH SPEED INTERNET back again.. whooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo doing the Happy Dance.... As soon as everything is unpacked, we are settled in and life gets back to chaos, like it always is.. lol. I will get some photos of the house.. I want to thank each of you that helped me decide on the wall color for my kitchen.. I am soooooooooo loving it. Until later .. Have a great day.. Sheila

One more thing to add to large pile of NOW WHAT!!!

Number one.. Our house did not sell.
Number two.. busted pipes, holes in ceiling from leak detectors having to find the leaks.
Number three...toilets, sinks and shower starts backing up in the house... hire a plumber to fix it. come to find out none of the drains are hooked up to the new sewer system they put in our town several years ago. It has been going into the old tank, which is tiny and full. So going under the house to fix pipes turned into another NOW WHAT.... To get under the house , plumber could only go so far up, to close to the ground... so he had to re-route all the pipe out to our front yard.. OH but that is not the worst of it... NO... Since he can not get up under the house, where the lower bathroom is, he has to go inside and cut a big hole in the bathroom floor to hook up to the drain from there. So holes in the living room ceiling, hole in the upper bathroom floor, now hole in the lower bathroom floor.

Oh yeah forgot one thing... THE PRICE!!!! Went up... and up again.. oh yeah did i mention it went UP AGAIN!!!!

As you know i am moving in june.. I showed my kitchen photo and ask about the yellow kitchen as to weather i should paint it or not. I did.. I painted it an off white light taupe color. I also did the fireplace as well.. What happened with the house ,was this, we let some people move in that were suppose to be buying it, well they did not get the money so they had to move out. But they took it upon themselves to paint the living room before having the ownership .. They painted the walls dark brown (which did not look too bad, just to dark of a color for me) and they painted our red brick fireplace... I always wanted to paint it, but was not allowed.. lol It was a dingy dirty color ... I went in and painted the walls the same color as i did my kitchen and dining room, and then painted the fireplace white, well i did not like the fireplace white with the red tiles.. So i either had to repaint the fireplace, or replace the tile.. I bought some tile to replace the red ones with.. But just as i was about to take a hammer to the red tiles, i saw my curtains.. they have a taupe background with red roses in them.. how well they blended.. I said oh.. I just need to paint the fireplace the same color as the walls and leave the red tiles.. That is what i did.. It does blend in real well now..

I painted the fireplace white at first so when i repainted it, i left the white in the grout lines and painted the top of the brick with the taupe.. For now i am happy with it, as i just have way to much to do .. I know i will have things sitting on the fireplace tiles any way and you won't even be able to see them.. So here are before and after photos of kitchen and dining room.The dining room was a kinda peachy color and it is now the same as the kitchen, and living room, just did not take a photo of it. So the one you see here is the before..

I did not take photos of the living room before i repainted it.. but believe me it was dark and cave like .I will show more photos after we get moved in.

Fabulous Friday Finds

Here are a couple of fabulous finds for my friday out... With having to paint, and pack for moving next month, i just really don't have much time for thrifting.. I had , and i mean had to go into town for groceries . So i stopped in the Paws Inn, which is a flea market type store to raise money for a no kill shelter. they just put these out right before i walked in the door. This throw or coverlet, or what ever it is, is hand made and just so wonderful..It is pretty large and the other photo is the edging all the way around it. I did not know if it was worth getting, as it was stained up and smelled pretty bad.. But i took the chance.. It was not much or i would not have taken the chance. It turned out very nice.. I also got this handmade round table cover, it is just as wonderful ... HOpe you all have a wonderful weekend.. I know i will , as it is finally stopped raining.

But sometimes we have to sit back and wonder why... I was getting ready to go over to the house and start my painting.. I realized we did not have the water on yet... So hubby goes and takes care of that, only to find out that we have busted pipes.. Well some of the busted pipes are up stairs.. So we have to tear out the living room ceiling to fix those. Round here in arkansas, we say.. well if it ain't one pig it's two sal's... Any way now we have to see if our insureance will pay for what we have to do... If not, it will just be a longer drawn out process to getting moved like we planned. LIke i said "Stranger things have happend"

To Paint or not to paint

Going back to our other house in june. I am deciding what i want to get done before we move. My kitchen is a really pretty creamy yellow with white cabinets. I love my kitchen here, it is a taupe color but totally different type cabinets. wood grain.. I don't know if i want that color in my kitchen at the other house or not. My photo shows the kitchen before we moved and it is a little dark but maybe you can see and give me suggestions.

What to do with all those pots

Do you have different sizes of pot's that your plants came in from the nursery? do you toss them? do you reuse them? If you have any laying around, i would be interested in them.. If you have enough to make it worth gathering up... I am going to be in need of many many pots.. So any time you can gather them up and have enough to ship, i would love to get them.. I do not need heavy clay pots, just the kind you get from the store and take your plant out of when you get it home..Small ones, and large ones, square ones and round ones. I will pay the shipping and for your hard efforts , enter you in a drawing for a thank you gift.. What kind of gift you say... I will have something figured out if i get any participants... Sound intriguing?? Well i went into town to fill a prescription and get a hair cut.. I had to make my way down a block or two to one of my fav places to thrift.. I went in and made my way down the isle like i always do.. The little lady at the desk said.. Look how mean i have been.. I said What do you mean.. you been mean... She pointed.. I had walked right by these two Hunks and did not even see them.. She said i pinched their heads off.. I cracked up.. I said well how much for the damaged goods.. She said those are 5 each... I said hey handsome, wanna go home with me... They did... Because they heard i had the little lady at my house already.. I wonder.. Do you think these men would mind? IF i were to put a bra on them and frou frou them up with some pink lace.. What ya thing..

These are the sweet gifts i got from Janet. Sweet basket and inside was a wonderful decoupaged egg with a sweet chik on it. Look at that bunny with a basket of flowers just for me. A Yummy marshmallow bunny , which i have not bit the ears off yet.. Still wrapped up.. Wonderful pink flowers, Jelly beans, and a gum ball machine.. There is a wooden bunny head that is sooooooooooo sweet. and a sweet pink bag of tiny fuzzy chicks... I know you cant see all of the treats to good in this photo, but if you go over to Miss Rhea's Flicker group you can see all of the goodies not only from me ,but from all the other participants... The Other White Meat.. Oh The other Rose Makeover

I know i am being silly.. In the first post of the plaster rose makeover you saw two sets of the roses.. I painted the first set, and had many nice comments on it... I decided to paint the other a different way.. I love pink and gold together, so i did this one in a white washed pink and a dirtied up gold.. NO other way to explain what look i was going for. I guess already old and faded out some. Let me know which one you like best and i will do the other one the same.. Because it is only paint you know....

Needle Point Pillow Makeover... Mabey

I have three vintage needlepoint pillow that i got at a thrift store. They have pretty rose needlepoint work on them but some lace i am not to fond of. I took the lace off of one and put some colorful trim around it.. Tell me if this is just to much color or is it making the needlepoint stand out more. I don't have enough trim to do all three pillows to match, but one does not need it. The first photo is the before photo...

Something I have been wanting to do for a long time

I had this candlestick..

Then i found these cups.

I put the cups and saucers on the candle stick... You have to forgive the sticky white adhesive stuff showing under the cups.

Next i put some flowers , that don't have any flowers on them yet, in the cups.. I may change out the flowers to some violets when i see some at the garden center. I did not use epoxy on the cups and saucers as i did not know for sure if i would like this. But i do.. I may want to take them off in the future. So i will just try this for now.

I also found this sweet green planter that looks like a bag that has been drawn up.. I will use it for something in the garden.. I hope each of you are doing great this weekend.

Paint or Not

I have had these two beautiful (plaster)? roses for some time now. Packed away in a box. I could never decide to paint them or not. They are kind of a really really pale peachy pink now.. What would you do to them.. Leave them as is, or paint them.. If you would paint them, would you paint the roses and also the leaves? Leaves green i mean... I think they would really pop if they were painted , but i have no clue what to do with them. They are heavy and they have a hanger wire on the back. Just want other opinions.

It is Wacky Weather here

WE will have 70 degree weather here in Arkansas today and Saturday,but late Saturday evening into Sunday morning we have a winter storm watch.. lol...It would be pretty to see snow on the ground with the yellow daffodils peeking through.. It won't last long and it will be gone.

When we were trying to sell our home(well we still are). We had some people that were going to buy it, they wanted to go ahead and move in as the closing got moved to another day and there they were with all their stuff and no place to go. They came from another state. They went ahead and moved in, which was fine with us, they were buying it.. Well that is what they thought and us too. NOPE their deal fell through on their end and they had to leave.. IN the mean time, the lady took it upon herself to paint the living room and the fireplace.. Yep she painted out fireplace.. Now i had always wanted to paint the fireplace my self, but was not allowed to. She painted the walls a chocolate color and the fireplace an off white.. It was the going colors around here .. I guess it still is, but am going to have to live with that color for a while .. My walls were a cream color before. It made the room much larger looking. Although the room is 15 by 30.. It is a long narrow room. Well 15 feet wide is not to bad, i had two sitting areas in it .I can live with the color on the walls and the fireplace as our couch and love seat are a wheat color or tan , i don't know for sure. lol

I am not even sure we will move back but a woman has to start thinking about these things you know..

I am wanting to put windows media player on my blog. or some kind of player that i can add my own music to. I had a player on here at one time, but you could not add music from your computer to it. I joined in Miss Rheas Easter basket swap and my partners were Janet Bernasconi and Liz Droege .. I had a blast reading on their blogs and finding out some things about them.. Like how talented they are and what they love to create and collect. loved your blogs ladies. I received my Easter basket and goodies from Lizzie already and wanted to show you how wonderful a job she did to please me. She made me a basket of the yogurt cup that we had to use. She covered it with crepe paper and glitter and hand made paper flowers. She put inside a handmade strawberry.. I love the cupcakes she has been making and was wanting one. She gave me some pretty fabric and paper flowers and some pink beads that i will make something wonderful with. I love the sweet pink string wrapped egg she made with glitter. Yes i was very pleased when i opened my package.. Thank you LIzzie.

We have just spent the weekend getting the ground ready for planting a garden. Since we just moved here and it is new ground there are a lot of rocks to be picked up and stumps to grind up, and tree roots to pick up . We will never pick up all the rocks , no one does. But the ground is tilled.. It will be a rather large garden, but i want it that way , as i will plant many things. We will eat what we can, and can what can't.. But then too we will eat what we can... lol...

I will plant extra just for the rabbits.. They love fresh veggies.. Lettuce , spinach,carrots, radishes.. Yep they like radish... Any way i will show you as we go along.. Even if we move i will still come over here and do the garden, it is only a twenty minute drive.... Of course Rowdy has to strike a pose for you..

We moved in August of last year to ten acres. We had plans of building here on the ten acres . We have been trying to sell our home in the other town for over a yr. now. It looks like we may have to move back in it , if it don't sell in a few weeks.

We love it out here in the woods.. Our dog has so much room to roam and the chickens too. We had really thought our house would sell fast, but has not been the case. I loved our house it was a four bedroom on one acre and had a large shop and out buildings for storage.. It has the most wonderful front porch on it.

As some of you that follow my blog know, we were hit in Feb. of last yr. by a tornado or straight line winds that done a lot of damage to our home. Insurance paid up and we fixed all the damage . The only thing we could not fix was the large pecan and oak trees we lost . So there are very few trees left on the place..

I am not real excited about moving back except for the fact that we will go back to a large home instead of a mobile home. Our dreams of building a cabin will be put on hold for a while..

Well like i said it is just a Maybe situation . Decisions still have to be made or the house could sell in the next few weeks.. Lot's of mixed emotions about this whole deal.. But what ever we decide we will be ok with it. Any way here is the house for those of you that have not seen it. there were no flowers on the porch at the time of this photo. They had just finished repairs and it was still to cold for flowers.

lol.. i can make no comment because we went last night to see it. We went to the late show and bought our tickets.. Went down the hall to the left , last door on the left.. Went inside looked around, turned around , went right back out and had to get our money back.. NO SEATS.. Why do they sell you tickets when there are no seats left.. Don't they know how many tickets they have for that perticular movie .. I guess they don't .. Anyway we will have to wait until next weekend now. I am so excited about seeing it.. I went out to errands and of course stopped in our great thrift store called "THE BARKIN BARN" it is a place that sells thrift store and collectibles to raise money for the no kill shelter for animals.. I love going there.. I found 5 pair of vintage genuine leather ladies gloves, ONe from France and one from Italy. Two pair from philipines and one that has no marks on them. They are all so supple and nice for vintage gloves. These are for a very petite small framed lady. Or a young girl. There are three black pair and two navy. I am not going to post the photos here , but if you would like to see them just go over to my website and click on vintage hats and gloves.. You will find them there. I also found some sweet toilet paper roll cover dolls, some vintage young girls patterns and some very pretty pink fabric.. A few rolls of ribbon as well. I am only posting photos of the two dolls. Finally Done with my Paper Mache

Back several post ,i told that i was going to do my first attempt at paper mache.. It was not as easy as i had planned.. It was not so hard either, just learned as i went.. I had fun playing in the paste.. I made the bunny, the two baskets and the dress and hat .. The hat is only a doiley i used . Any way i think i could get a smoother surface as i had more practice.. I don't think it was to bad for a first attempt.. What do you think...

WOW All of the wonderful sweet treats from the Amour Valentines Swap.. Almost to much to take in. My swap partner was Elyse from Tinkered Treasures. Elyse makes the most wonderful petite boxes made from matchboxes.. I was the proud recipeant of some of her masterpieces. She covered a wooden heart box with paper and glitter and filled it with some little trinkets for crafting. Here is what i recieved from Elyse..

As always i can not get my photos and what i have to say about them in order. I sent Elyse this wonderful Very Large Box.. It is such a wonderful gift in its self. I love vintage items and love to work with vintage items, so i used a vintage spice carosal lazy suzan type thing and painted it all the colors elyse said she loves. I fille most of the jars with trinkets she can use in her Tinkering. I even put stickers on the item that says.. LOVE TO TINKER...

I had some beautiful crochet pieces , one is a valentine pocket in which i embellished with A blown glass heart, and the other is a crochet collar piece i added a beautiful broach to it.

I sent her vintage greeting cards, vintage buttons, glitter paper,vintage irredesent pipe cleaners,lack of a better word..The blue polkadot ribbon, as i did not mean to have both rolls in the photo.. I added stickers, note pads,pastel oil chalk, glitter pens,ONe of my handmade Diva doves embellished with a vintage piece of jewlery.. She is carrying elyse a goodie bag of glitter and glittered ribbon. Sorry about the double photo.. It was alot of fun doing this swap. The Amour Swap was a learning experience for me as it was my very first one of this kind. Cathy Thank you so much..

Cabin Fever got the best of me

After a week of not being able to get off the mountain, when i finaly did get off the mountain, i went thrifting.. I think if i had no food in the house, or no meds or what ever, i would still have went thrifting first.. Am i bad, -----------> head hangin low as i walk to the corner for a time out. hahhaha... I picked a few things just because i love them.. either the way they look, or just because i felt something was good about them. I found a sweet little gilr figurine, on the bottom it has Maude Humphrey.. well i had never heard of this figurine.. But when i looked her up on the WWW... she is quite a collectible.. If she had her box and certificate she she could go for as much as 250.00... She is Sarah... I was floored when i looked her up. Yall i am cheap.. lol.. .I also got a vintage easter bunny candy container ... A UCGC trinket box, with the sweetest little bird.. . Some great strawberry fabric and laying on the fabric are three appliques. Lefton easter bunnies so sweet . well the photos will show all i got.. I love the Creamy Yellow Angoria sweater it is from the 50's Minklam Darlene is on the tag.. Hand embroidered bag of some kind, it is vintage and exsquisit. Vintage sarah cov braclette, Very bradley scarf,Yes i will list some of these on my website and some i may keep. Good Morning to all my Blogger Friends

If i still have any that is. lol.. Have not blogged any of late. We have had 10 more inches of snow here on the ridge.. It is so pretty, but so hard to get around in. Well i have not went anywhere at all, just out to feed the animals and go for a walk in the woods with Rowdy.. He loves snow and water.. Here are a few photos of our snow.. I know most of you may have this stuff too and could care less about looking at any more.. I don't blame you.. The third photo is a tree out in the backyard that i am waiting to break, it is bent over even more then in the photo. the one with the blue sky is just becasue it was so pretty with the blue background. I have been doing some paper mache, my very firs attempt at it.. It is different from lay paper strips and glue, and more paper strips and more glue, this is made from .... Whispers... toilet paper... and other things to make a paste.. I realy like it. It is called paper clay.. But any way when i get my creation complete i will show it to you then. It is easter related... Well i hope all is well in your neck of the woods.. Please drop by to say hello ...

Well I am an offical Ground Hog.. It is my birthday today.. My mom use to tease me about the day i was born.. She said i just kept peeking out and running back, guess i was not ready for the old cold air in Febuary. Any way the ice is beginng to thaw here and i should be able to get to town tomorrow. Ever Changing

My blog header that is.. I just love the sweet little children on my header. I am using this for my valentine header for now.. I just think it is fun to make them,(though mine are very simple). Little Story With A Happy Ending

I love vintage train cases, and have a few.. I have seen over time on some blogs some beautiful cases painted with roses and all dolled up.. Well i can't paint roses so i just painted the whole case a really pretty pink.

Now for the rest of the story...
My sweet step daughter got me this oooooohhhhhhhhlala secnted drawer liner for christmas.. TO DIE FOR you will see. It is soooooooooooo pretty i did not want to tuck it away in my drawers.. I was cleaning out my train case and noticed some of my old lace and doileys were beginning to smell dusty.. I cleaned up the case and a light went off in my head.. Beautiful drawer lines, smelly case, Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. Yippy.. So i got busy... Here is the case now...But as usual i did not get the photos in the order i wanted them in.. But you can see how pretty it is anyway.

It has been four days now with no water. We thought our water was frozen, but it was our well pump switchy thingy that went out. Tonight I get a nice HOT bath.. wooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo... I can't wait to soak in the bubbles..It is going to be another single digit night here in Arkansas.. I know most of you have temps like this every winter, but for us in arkansas it is only in the low fourties most of the time, and the coldest it would get is in the twenties one night and be gone..Well hope you have a nice weekend.. I will be watching for all those pretty Pink Saturday Post.

The header on my blog is called MELT.. I have a cd with vintage images on it,and when i saw this photo i thought WOW... She is melting in his arms.. So i embellished it with lace,jewels,glitter and vintage pieces.. This is a new collage piece i created.. I have done very few. But this one just makes me go all mushy.. So i am trying to figure out how to either get that half a third column off or fix it to show all of it. If anyone knows how to fix it let me know. I am puzzles. Well we had to get out yesterday to look for some things to try to keep our water from freezing.. We hit goodwill before leaving town. But when we got home, our water was froze anyway. We live up higher then where we go into town is, so we are much colder here.. No water still this morning. Well things are tough all over... But my find was this sweet tiara made into a hair barrett. This will make something wonderful.. OH and i found this wonderful Large Box by Patricia Brubaker.. I love it.. Hope you all have a nice day..

I had a wonderful time with family and friends. Ate to much as always. Only a few days until we start a new year. It seems as though time passes so much faster. YOu turn on full turn around and it has been two years. My sweety will be on vacations for several days, so i won't be posting to much.. I Love having him home with me. I never tire of his company. I did get a new camera for christmas.. It is awsome. So now mabey i can get some good quality photos. If i figure out what all the buttons are for.. Happy Holidays..

I have enjoyed everyones christmas decor photos so much.. Dreamy,crystal,sparkley,wonderlands.. I know you know, how hard it is to get photos to look good with the lights on ,on the tree or on the mantle.. I did a few with them on and off. I love my santas, the pink one is a Brinns English Garden SAnta.. The other one is Gold and white and i do not know who his maker is .. He is very heavy and very embellished.. Lovely to look at.. Then i have one i have under my cloche I realy love his look too. HOpe you enjoy the photos.

So i was out at the flea market, it was freezing. I stopped at a booth that had some homemade natural products made from goat milk and all natural ingrediants. I have bought some of this ladys products before, they are great. But as i was standing there looking i saw something new she had there. It was stuffed animals.. wrapped up in bags. They looked different though..I piked one up, and WOW!!! they smelled W~~O~~N~~D~~E~~R~~F~~~U~~~L!!!! I said just what are these? She laughed.. She explained it to me. They are coated with wax that has a fragrence added to it. You just sit it in your room and it smells wonderful.. Now if the smell has become not so noticable, just take your blow dryer and warm it up a bit and it will smell good as new. I have never seen anything like it.. I have this lady's number if you would like one. She has several animals to choose from.

Don't you love cookies? I do.. But one certain kind for me at Christmas..
These are my favorite cookies. Period... My aunt use to make these for me when i was very young.. She made them up until my uncle had a stroke and she could not travel anymore. My Mother then started makeing them for me.. I did get the recipe and make them now myself since my mommy passed away. I know you have all had them but this is my recipe to share .. Pass the Milk Please..

SAND TARTS
1 CUP BUTTER
1/2 CUP POWDERED SUGAR
2 CUPS CAKE FLOUR,PLAIN FLOUR CAN BE USED
1 CUP CHOPPED NUTS
1 TSP. VANILLA

Cream buter, add sugar, flour, nuts, and vinilla.
Shape into balls or cresents (cresents for me please)
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325 degrees
for 20 minutes or until light brown.
Roll in powdered sugar while warm.
Makes 4 doz.

A few Christmas things have been added to my website This Santa is a Brinns English Garden Santa. He is the softest prettiest Brinns i have seen in a while. The Nativity set is a beautiful aqua color and there are 16 pieces to it. The Carousel is a Mr. christmas Holiday Carousel. It plays the regular carousel tunes and then flip the button and it plays the best christmas music of all. I have also added another wonderful vitage tablecloth and some pretty figurines and ribbons. It has the old vintage glass balls on it and wonderful gold glitter on the tips of the tree. IT is 12 inches tall. I have added this to my website if anyone collects these.. We had a beautiful weekend here in arkansas. It was so nice we decided to have a weiner roast for the kids and grandkids.. Then we went inside and watch the new GI JOE Movie.. It was pretty good. End of the War

Join in on Show and tell friday with Cindy at My Romantic Home.. I was going through some vintage cases that i have , some filled with photos from 1800's and early 1900's.. I cam across some photos(which you can click on to enlarge) and letters home , from my Uncle that was in the war in japan.. You may remember my post on the China i have of my grandmothers the he brought back with him after the war. Todays post is about my uncle.. He was in the Navy and was in the USS MOBILE 5th division. Here you can see his letter home to my grandparents on VJ DAY August 10th 1945...
The letter starts out saying Dear mom and dad and family, boy am i a happy boy tonight... I almost fainted when the boats in the water of the watch announced "The War being Over"... I can only imagine how they all felt.. In the photo my Uncle is the very young boy sitting on the left side of the photo with a ciggerett in his hand. Just look at how young he was. The other photo is the ship he was serving on..and then the letter home. Pray for our troops.. Keep them in your hearts and minds..

I love the great art work on 50's and 60's packaging. I found several pair of Hosieries from the late 50' or early 60's. Beverly Jane Slack Mates , Ballet, and Crafts. All in the never opend packages. I also found some lovely Sarah Lugg Pink Hearts that are so sweet. Just wanted to let you see the great art of the past. I tried my best to get a good photo of the Beverly Jane slack mates, but the packaging is so light and the outer wrap reflects too much.

Frustration Abounds

I am not an impatient person. I am not easy to upset. I am easy going, calm, to nice for my own good at times.. BUT!!!!!!!!!!! I am at my wits end with trying to get good photos to put on my website. I see alot of your photos and say WOW... What great photos... Even if i get a clear photo, it just looks to plain. Any comments or suggestions on taking great photos would be very welcome...

Pink Things from the WOODS

I was out walking with my pup Rowdy in the woods, Treasure hunting. We came up on a mound of rocks and stopped to let rowdy be nosey.. I was looking around too, as i saw what looked to be a white vase.. It was a white vase, milk glass vase with the star pattern.. But as i was picking it up i caught a scent of something very sweet and flowrery.. I looked around and saw these...I do not know what they are, but they must be a flowering fungus.. They look like a rose but that has not opened up, the softest shade of pink and white.. Nature can bring very beautiful things if we look.

Vintage Chintz

I was thrifting around today and found this very beautiful Chintz pattern.. It has Japan on the bottom and i am assuming it is a planter.. I am not sure if it had a lid or not. it doesn't real have a lip for a lid. Does anyone know for sure if it is a planter or just what it is?

Garden Greenhouse

This is my second time to post this on my blog, but i wanted to use this for Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home This is a greenhouse I made from some old windows I brought to our new place, from the house we just moved from. I have seen these windows on other blogs, and at antique stores, and have wanted one for sometime now. I am not finished with this project as it has been raining and raining, and i do not think paint will stick to the wood while it is wet.. I have tons of stuff to do to it but wanted to share it with you..The more up close photo is showing the window flower containers I put on each side..

I shared a photo of my new pup a few weeks ago, at 5 wks old.. well now he is 10 wks old.. I have only had him for 4 weeks now and look how he has grown.. Rowdy is a sweet pup, but his name fits him to a T... Scroll down a few post and see him then..

Greenhouse from old windows

I had some old windows i brought with us to our new place, from the house we just moved from.. I knew what i was going to do with them.. Making a Green house from them.. I have been working on this for some time now.. It just won't stop raining so i can finish it.. I want to paint it and make it pretty.. But it may not stop raining for some time now. This is how it is now, and mabey i can get some more done to it soon , and post more photos..

I was visiting My Romantic Home and saw it was Show & Tell Friday. I love to see all the great post there and decided to join in.. I had some problems and sent an email to Cindy and she will help me out to get my link from here to her soon.. IF you dont get to see the show and tell friday this time , hope it will be fixed for next week...I have just recently moved and have only just begun to get some things out of the boxes.. What i am showing here is my Grandmothers China, brought to her,by her son,that was stationed in Japan in the 40's... When he came home from the war, he brought her this beautiful set of china.. Noritake, pattern Carmela.. I have always adored this china sitting in her china hutch.. When she passed away, all her daughters had their own china, and had no room for it. So i was able to take it, as i had no china. I am also showing my pink chickens that i just love, and my pink sea shell set with my cute little pink and black pigs...

Hello ... Fall has definatley arrived here at Georgia Ridge... Wet chilly weather ,leaves are changing colors, acorns are falling and hitting the barn roof, sounding like a shotgun going off.. I have been working on one of the old window greenhouses and am just about finished with it.. I will post a photo of it when we have some sun around here, in order to take the photo with.. lol

I found this realy cute candle holder and immediatley thought of painting it white.. I know it will look GREAT white, but with fall here, i am thinking of just leaving it black for a while.. The warmth of fall colors makes things more cozy for long,cold, grey winters.. If you had required this piece, where would you put it, and how would you decorate it? Mabey you do have this piece and would like to show us how you have it decorated... Hope to see many responces to this ... Have a great day...

New adventures

I am embarking (no pun intended) on a new adventure.. I am getting a puppy... He is not ready to pick up yet, but the lady sent me his photo.. I did go and see him, and decided right away his name.. ROWDY!!!!!!!!!!!! He is adorable as you can see. He is a bloodhound and will very large.. WHAT AM I THINKING?????????? lol.. I have wanted a bloodhound all my life. NOw that we have moved to the country, and live on 10 acres i am finaly getting one.. I am sure to have many photos of him to share. I go pick him up Sept 19th..Here is his sweet little face now.. It will be changing many times. lol... Enjoy
